Kweekmuziek, the monthly music event at the Kweekcafé in Haarlem, brings a wide variety of music. Friday December 6, 2024, she opened the stage for Gwendolyn Snowdon. Gwendolyn shared folk songs from all over Europe. The main theme in folk songs is death. Fights that ended bad, hunting accidents and poisoning… there are so many songs about it that it leaves little room for songs about love.
Gwendolyn doesn’t only bring the music alive with her voice and mandolin, her eyes tell the story as well. If you don’t speak the language of the song you can clearly see where we are in the story.
Gwendolyn was supported by Hester de Boer on her five string violin.
