Sophia Maria Kienhuis is a dancer and she teaches it as well. One of the locations where she teaches is Parnassos in Utrecht. She asked her students who wanted to participate in a performance. Eight stepped up to the challenge. Sophia created choreographies and practiced with them for fifteen weeks.
The next important thing was to get a stage. That was easier than one would expect. Every year there is an event where people open their house for artists and public. It is called “Gluren Bij De Buren”, ”Peaking at the Neighbours”. There are three performances of the same artist at a location. Sophia reached out Haarlemmer Kweektuin and they gave her the Palmenkas. This is a large greenhouse, with a stage and plants and trees on all sides.
As you already guessed… on Sunday, february 2nd, 2025, she and her team performed their show three times in a row. They did great and you could see they were having fun and challenged at the same time. Every show ended with the sound engineer sharing a song.
Remember… every body can dance, cause we were never supposed to be a wallflower.
