One week later than expected the fourth Open Mic Night hosted by the Singer-Songwriter Cirkel Haarlem took place at café Briljant in Haarlem. The delay was caused by a small renovation of the bar which made the place a bit lighter.
This night was all about instruments. Anouk opened the evening with songs in Dutch. As she would only present the evening she didn’t bring a guiter and Oli Tong lend her one. Minke Jonk and Oli were second to take the stage. Oli had a guiter with a minimalistic design en Minke played ukelele. Gwan Brandhorst was the only one who didn’t need to plugin his guitar. His special instrument was Judith Wesselius! Mark Werkman was the exception to validate the ‘rule’ by not bringing a different instrument and playing a strong set. Jan Willem Reitsma played two songs about complete disasters with a toy piano and trumpet. The improvised improvisation formation To The Wolves closed the evening with a new approach. They asked the audiance what they should improvise about. The subjects were the American election and toothpaste. Everybody who went home after To The Wolves missed Maarten Eysker and his twelve string guitar. On Eight Mile High Juliette van Dijk added extra vocals from the audiance.
