November the 7th was another great evening filled with music at the Open Mic night organised by the Singer Songwriter Cirkel Haarlem in café Lokaal.
Rob Wtenweerde opened the event with a great set which included a song about Alzheimer’s disease. Ellis Freijser discussed possessions and days you wished you stayed in bed.
The Ennrons, a guitar duo, had a song about staying somewhere while you really should leave that place/situation. Pien van de Rest turned Lokaal into her own jazz club with songs like My funny Valentine and Blue Moon.
Dutch Cassidy has something with women. Based on his set they mark the disappointments on his road through life except for the one that keeps his on track. Mark Werkman reworked a song of one of his earlier bands and shared the one love song he ever wrote.
Petra Jordan was the first to play Betsy at the open mic in Lokaal. She set a very high standard with a great set of songs. De Stroom was the second guitar duo that took the stage. They showcased a good mix of great songs in both English and Dutch.
Gwan Brandhorst likes songs which tell a story. The stories take their time to be told and every time it amazes me how he can remember the long lyrics. Jasper Schalks and Joshua Aaron where the hosts and sound engineers of the evening and Joar was in charge of the liquid section of Lokaal.
