On October 2nd 2018 the 30th Open Mic Night organised by the Singer Songwriter Cirkel Haarlem was held in café Lokaal in Haarlem.
Minke Jonk opened the night with her gang which was so big that I missed one of the members. Of course Oli Tong participated and as Charles Aznavour passed away they covered one of his many songs.
Pien became P!en. She stopped playing the USB stick and learned to play guitar. With two covers and one brand new song she did very well.
Rob Wtenweerde shared songs about love! Some how it never works out well. Mark Werkman is working on a set of songs about a dysfunctional family. The songs give the impression he wants to be part of it or be the creator of the mess.
Alex Goodger played a good set of his own songs and Thomas Triemstra backed him up on guitar. They were followed by the duo Zoetwater. The brothers gave a small show with of songs in Dutch.
Kim Nanninga teamed up with Lucas van Rens. They had a gig coming up and wanted to practice with an audience. The Open Mic Night is the perfect event for dotting the i’s and crossing the musical T’s.
Thomas Triemstra also played his own set, including one new song. Sarah Koolhaas is the front lady of a band. Performing all by yourself is something different. To build up her confidence she shared a great song at the piano.
